When you follow the "click" prompts, you'll get an update. At this writing, the figure was more than one million.

How does it work? Most of these sites rely on sponsors, in this case the Thames Water Company. They benefit from the visibility to hundreds of thousands of people who visit the site and the sponsors are willing to donate to the causes based on the volume of visitors.

WaterAid, according to its website at www.wateraid.org, is dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion to the world's poorest people.
