Summary of the eRumor: An
email warns you that there is an annual day that all the accumulated
e-junk on the Internet needs to be cleaned out such as old files,
bookmarks, etc.. Some versions advise you to make sure your
computer is off. Others actually suggest covering your computer
with a cloth.
The Truth:
The
"Annual Internet Clean Up Day" is an annual hoax.
There is no such event and the fact that March 31 is the eve of April
Fool's day shouldn't escape notice.

On March 31st there Annual Internet Clean-up (AIC) will be done. If you don't prepare your system or are hooked up to the internet during the clean up it could damage your system. Please take a moment to learn about the clean up procedures/protections.
Most people know about this from last year - which was a real mess because almost no one was warned ahead of time. However this year the Field Office of Operational Links (FOOL) seems to have their act together with helpful links, etc. I've already prepared my system and will be off line on the night when the clean up happens (just in case).
