he Truth:   
Paige Lane is a real person and in 1999 was five years old and seriously ill.  She never asked for a collection of cards, however, and the deluge of mail that has resulted from this eRumor has caused a lot of headaches for her family.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation did help grant her wish to visit Disney world, but somehow the story started circulating that she was requesting a record number of greeting cards, which was not the case.
