Pasadena Police-Hotel Key Cards

A false eRumor claims that those credit-card sized cards that you get in hotels and that you use as a key to get into your room can contain your confidential financial information--so don't lose it.

In 2003, a version of the eRumor started circulating saying that it had come from the Pasadena Police Department.  A short time later, the Pasadena police issued a release saying that the legitimate but confidential concerns of a detective about the eRumor had gotten circulated outside of the department and should not have.  They confirmed that their own investigation into the hotel key card rumor confirmed that it was not true.
