License Plate Brackets Illegal in Texas-Fiction!

Summary of the eRumor
The eRumor says that as of September 1, 2003, it is illegal in the state of Texas to have a bracket around your license plate...the kind that have names of dealerships, sports teams, etc.

The Truth
There was a new law in Texas as of September 1, 2003, but it does not prohibit license plate brackets or holders.

According to the Texas State Legislature website, the bill was designed to make sure that license place numbers and letters were clearly visible and not covered or obscured by things such as stickers or license plate holders.

The fine could be up to $200.
