Fashion Designer Tommy Hilfiger Said on TV That His Clothes Were for Whites Only, Not Asians, Blacks, Or Hispanics-Fiction!

bulletSummary of eRumor:
This email says that Tommy Hilfiger appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and said that he created clothes only for whites.  Oprah got angry and threw him off the show.
bulletThe Truth:
This is a hoax.  There is no evidence the TV interview ever took place or that he made the racist comments.  According to a statement on his website, Oprah Winfrey herself, on her January 11, 1999 program, stated Tommy Hilfiger has never been on her show nor has she ever met him.

A real examples of the story as it has been circulated:

I was told by a family member that Tommy Hilfiger was on Oprah one day and reportedly stated that if he had known that those people (referring to the Black community) would buy his clothes, he would have had the prices increased to the point that they could not buy them.  Supposedly Oprah was so disgusted that she insisted that he leave.  I cannot imagine that this is true, but I have heard the same story from several different people.    Truth or Fiction?

-----------------------------

We have heard over the Internet as a request to boycott because Tommy Hilfiger, the clothes designer, made a racist comment on Oprah specifically saying that he did not design his clothes for Asians, Black or Hispanics...just caucasians.
