On April 8, 2009 the Maersk Alabama, under the command of Captain Richard Phillips was taken hostage by Somali Pirates. The incident ended on April 12 when a team of U.S. Navy Seals marksmen killed three pirates who where holding Phillips on the lifeboat. Phillips was rescued unharmed.
