Bush Brothers & Co. issued a recall on July 25, 2017, of 28-ounce cans of Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans, Country Style Baked Beans and Original Baked Beans. The reason for the recall was “defective side seams.” It only impacted certain cans with best-by dates of “Jun 2019.” Even then, only certain product lot numbers were impacted. As the summer grilling season kicked into high gear in June 2018, the recall notice re-circulated on social media. Many mistook it for a recent recall and warned people to throw out cans of Bushes Baked Beans.
