Kim Kardashian West’s ensemble for the May 6 2019 Met Gala ball in New York made headlines for its film-inspired “wet” look, ruching, and extreme corseting, drawing the attention of fashion reporters and blogs even amid the campiness of the event’s other pageantry.
Two days after Kardashian’s Thierry Mugler dress drew media attention, memes hinted that the bottom of the dress was not very flattering and resembled an undesirable body part. A Facebook post boasting more than 100,000 shares (archived here) featured a photograph of Kardashian’s purported complete ensemble.
That post featured a screenshot of a May 7 2019 tweet by @rpinkprincess, which was also shared thousands of times:

The image centered on the bottom half of the Mugler frock, which was gathered to enhance the impression the dress was wet. Interestingly, subsequent Facebook posts made the same claims, but featured an entirely different and dissonant dress image:
Editing was quite obvious in shares of the doctored dress. As the second Facebook post demonstrated, Kardashian’s original ensemble looked nothing like the doctored “booty hole” image that had garnered so many shares:
Did Kim Kardashian ‘Ruin’ Marilyn Monroe’s Dress?Did Kim Kardashian ‘Ruin’ Maril...

As the images demonstrate, Kim Kardashian’s dress looked nothing like the altered images circulating on Twitter and Facebook. The ruching on the bottom of the dress culminated in a hem and a row of buttons, not the suggestive sphincterish shadow seen in the doctored versions.
