Summary of eRumor:

Billy and Karen Vaughn, the parents of a Seal Team 6 officer who was killed in Afghanistan, reportedly outlined President Obama’s “cowardly lack of leadership” and asked for his resignation in an open letter the president.

The Truth:

Billy and Karen Vaughn are the parents of a fallen Seal Team 6 officer, and they asked for the president’s resignation in a letter that was published on August 27, 2014, by the World Tribune.

“As Commander-in-Chief, your actions — or lack thereof — Mr. President, cost lives. As you bumble about in your golf cart, slapping on a happy face and fist-pounding your buddies, your cowardly lack of leadership has left a gaping hole — not only in America’s security — but in the security of the entire globe. Your message has come across loud and clear, sir: You are not up to this job. You know it. We know it. The world knows it,” the letter said.

Karen Vaughn also tweeted links to the letter shortly after it was published.

Billy and Karen Vaughn are the parents of Navy Chief Special Warfare Officer Aaron Carson Vaughn, who was a member of SEAL Team 6.  Aaron Carson Vaughn was killed in Afghanistan’s Wardak providence on August 6, 2011, when a Chinook helicopter that he was a passenger in was shot down, the non-profit group icasualties.org reports.
